Executed on a coarse handwoven linen ground, the repeating geometric motif—rendered in deep brown with traces of oxidized rose—retains the subtle irregularities characteristic of hand-carved block printing. The pattern’s rhythmic symmetry and restrained palette suggest an Eastern Mediterranean or Anatolian workshop tradition, produced during the late 19th century when small-scale block printing remained in use alongside emerging industrial methods.
The textile shows clear evidence of hand application, with slight pigment variation and visible strike-through to the reverse.
