Along with that provenance comes a lamp that practically looks like it just came off the showroom floor -- it's that clean! There are some chips to the green patina, but they're minimal in number and size. You'll see a few around the break and there are a couple on the aladdin lamp's bowl. The patina (original) is a deep, lustrous green, freshly cleaned and waxed. The base, with its organic, plant-based and animal feet motifs, is just dazzling!

The interior of the push-pull socket seems to have been replaced, and it works fine. I suppose the rayon-covered cord is also newish. At least whoever rewired it chose the best and most expensive cord, fashioned in the antique mode!

The antique, glass, "flame" shade isn't original to the base. B&H aficionados and collectors know that the original shade was a small, six-sided, slag glass beauty in the three colors of red, green and yellow, with metal overlay. The shade was held in place by the metal harp device which you see in the last picture, and it will be supplied with your purchase, just to allow for that one-in-a-million possibility that you should find an original shade (and its finial, hopefully!). But in terms of "marriages made in Heaven," this flame-shaped shade fills the bill nicely! It's held in place by a 100-year-old UNO fitter of solid brass, which screws onto the top of the socket.

Dimensions: the lamp stands about 57 inches high (to the top of the shade) and the iron base is about 9 3/4 across. See less
