This is the cornerstone of the collection. When you look at Number 1, the first thing that hits you is that deep, pooling aqua center. It isn't just a color; it’s a high-gloss glass-melt that creates a literal well of light against the raw, brutalist stoneware.
The markings on this piece are the clearest of the set. On the reverse, you’ll see the confident, hand-incised cursive 'L'—a studio mark that elevates this from a simple object to a signed work of art. The base also carries that beautiful, fabric-pressed texture, proving it was hand-wrought on a textile surface during the drying process.
Because this piece has the highest concentration of blue glaze, it acts as the visual anchor. It's bold, it's sculptural, and it carries the most direct lineage to the Walther studio's experimental period. We are listing this as a singular sculptural form, priced to reflect its status as a signed, primary specimen.
