A charming Louis XV style bombe shape table crafted with figured walnut and delicate marquetry decoration with the motifs of flora and music/writing in a scrolling foliate ornament surrounding a coat of arms and a crown. Decorative ormolu mounts, fitted interior with compartments for jewelry, sewing; also possibly used as a small writing desk. Warm wood tones with decorative inlay makes this an eye catching accent piece. French, early 20th century origin. inspired by the original 18th century French furniture.
Inside of the flaps top surface is inlaid with an open book and a quill/ ink jar, inscribed "De Par le Roy ... Versailles le Louis" which references a royal decree from King Louis XV.
Great condition, wood separating inside, wood chipped on top back edge and font bottom edge. drawers on inside and outside open easily. missing original key
