The bowl features a continuous frieze of stylised daisy flowers in relief around the exterior, contrasted by a radiating ribbed pattern to the interior, demonstrating lalique’s mastery of light, texture, and depth. based on the form of the signature shown, which appears to read “lalique france”, the bowl most likely dates to the period after the death of rené lalique in 1945 when the company marked works in this way, under the leadership of his son marc and the modern lalique company. Lalique” signatures used during rené’s lifetime, and this postwar identification helps place the age of the bowl within the mid twentieth century.
