These masks were originally worn during initiation ceremonies and during policing in their communities. Traditional elongated features and rounded brows meant to resemble the gorilla (the word "Ngil" also meaning gorilla). Signs of age and use to be cherished. Wonderful collector's piece. Circa 1920's.
