A FRENCH EMPIRE GILT BRONZE AND MARBLE CLOCK, 19TH CENTURY
This fine clock is an allegory for war and peace. The winged angel holds a shield inscribed 'Amour et Gloire' which translates 'Love and Glory'.
The figure towers over the clock case. His ornate helmet with two doves and quiver of arrows and sword rest nearby. All trophies of war and peace. The green marble base mounted with laurel wreathes. Exceptional quality and detail.
Measures 16" tall x 12" wide x 6" deep. Good condition - lacks pendulum.
