Vintage Wedgwood Etruria England nursery rhyme plate featuring a scene from Simple Simon, titled “In a Fix.”
The rim reads:
“When the wind is in the west then the fishes bite the best.”
Decorated with a fisherman and dog beside a river, framed by a green border with transfer printed illustration.
Marked WEDGWOOD ETRURIA ENGLAND on the back with impressed Wedgwood mark.
This charming plate is a wonderful example of late Victorian decorative ceramics and works beautifully as a wall display or within a collection of English transferware.
