This listing is for a gorgeous Swedish grandfather clock.
This clock was made during the Gustavian Era and is dated 1792.
The Swedish clockmakers were most notably known for their "Mora" grandfather clocks. Most Mora clocks had rounded cases with curved sides. This clock is more square and is a Swedish adaptation of an English Georgian design.
This clock has a nice blue exterior with natural wear. It is complimented by a unique green dial with 2 tone metal detailing. The year 1792 is inscribed on the top.
Swedish grandfather clocks are coveted for their beautifully natural "aged" look, exposing the various layers of paint from the last couple of centuries (much like shabby chic).
The movement is an 8 day time and strike. Swedish grandfather clock movements are distinguished by their wooden barrels and double bell strike.
The movement was last serviced in 2018. It ran and chimed when recently tested. The double bell strike has a nice tone.
This clock measures about 16.5 x 10 x 83.5 inches
Please note that any mechanical clock that is moved or shipped might require adjustments upon arrival and this time accuracy cannot be guaranteed.
