Signed Antique Northwood "Grape and Cable" Green Carnival Glass Plate
A quintessential masterpiece of American Art Glass, this 9-inch plate was crafted by the renowned Northwood Glass Company during the height of the Carnival Glass era (circa 1910). Featuring the iconic "Grape and Cable" pattern, it displays deeply embossed grape clusters and trailing vines that radiate from a central rope-like cable. This rare variant is pressed in a lush emerald green base glass and finished with a brilliant, high-luster iridescence that flashes vibrant shades of peacock blue, magenta, and gold. Uniquely, the intricate pattern is visible on both the interior and exterior. The center of the plate features the authentic, underlined "N" in a circle hallmark.
Dimensions:
Diameter: 9"
Height: 1.75"
Condition:
Excellent antique condition. The iridescent finish is exceptionally vibrant with no major wear, dull spots, or "sickness." The sawtooth rim is crisp and completely free of chips, cracks, or repairs. Commensurate with age and the hand-pressed manufacturing process, a few very minor "straw marks" (original factory cooling lines) may be present, which only serve to authenticate its period origin.
A standout addition to any advanced carnival glass collection, this signed Northwood plate offers a captivating, kaleidoscopic glow and timeless Edwardian elegance.
