Reminiscent of Aesop's Fable, The Ant and the Grasshopper, here is a pair of antique decorative plates. Artfully hand-painted on German or Bohemian blanks, featuring a brightly colored scene of two grasshoppers lounging in the garden. A multi-colored rose motif decorates the rim with a green border circumscribing the scalloped edges of the plates.
Truly one-of-kind antique art pieces.
The undersides are stamped with the green SAXE mark, hand numbered.
Dates 1890-1910.
