An unusual and charming example of a combined furniture where a longcase clock is combined with a writing bureau. Handcrafted and featuring an unusually slim and narrow frame constructed in two parts. The lower section with a fall-front writing flap and fitted interior with small drawers. The upper part has the clock and the original 19th-century clock face. An interesting detail is that the channel for the weights and pendulum runs through the entire cabinet and continues down into the lower part. The cabinet retains its original painted finish with a natural patina and age-related wear that adds both character and authenticity. The floor moulding on the right side is of later date. During the latter half of the 20th century, the original mechanical mechanism was replaced with a functioning battery-powered movement, while the original clock face was preserved. Equally suited to both classic and modern settings for those seeking something genuine and unusual. The lower cabinet measures 59 cm wide and 22 cm deep with height 120 cm. Height to the writing flap is 79 cm. The upper clock cabinet measures 15 cm deep and 110 cm tall. Total height is 230 cm. See less
