Exquisite hand-carved Chinese scholar bowl dating to the Qing Dynasty, finely carved from polished buffalo horn with a deep natural luster developed over time.
The vase is richly decorated in high relief with traditional auspicious motifs including bamboo, flowering prunus branches and a dragon, symbols of resilience, renewal and power in classical Chinese iconography. The interior and exterior demonstrate fine craftsmanship, with intricate botanical carvings and flowing sculptural forms characteristic of scholarly objects created for the study of literati (Wenfang). The lower part bears the traditional Chinese seal, indicating the origin of the laboratory.
Elegant and highly decorative, this piece embodies the artistic sophistication and symbolic richness of Qing Dynasty carving.
