Here is a signed handmade raku-fired lidded bowl by American studio artist Gayle Whiteley Minjarez.
This piece measures approximately 5 inches wide and 3 inches tall. It features a classic crackle glaze interior and body with dark reduction around the rim. The lid is decorated with soft geometric panels in pastel blue, teal, and blush tones outlined in earthy lines a design that reflects the surface exploration she later became known for in her metalwork.
Gayle Whiteley Minjarez exhibited ceramic work in the 1980s before transitioning into contemporary studio jewelry, where she continues to work today. Her early pottery pieces represent an important phase of her artistic development.
The base is clearly signed.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition. No cracks or repairs. Crackle glaze is inherent to the raku process. Lid sits properly.
A beautiful example of late 20th-century American studio pottery equally at home as a decorative art object or functional trinket bowl.
