This exquisite Northern Song Dynasty (960–1127 CE) Longquan celadon carved bowl is a fine example of China’s iconic ceramic craftsmanship from the golden age of Longquan ware. Hand-thrown from high-quality porcelain and finished with a warm, translucent olive-green celadon glaze, this piece embodies the quiet elegance and technical mastery of Song Dynasty ceramic art.
The bowl features delicate, hand-carved floral motifs on both the interior and exterior, executed in the classic "half-knife" carving technique characteristic of Northern Song Longquan ware. The fluid, precise lines of the carving create a striking contrast against the smooth, jade-like glaze, highlighting the artisan’s exceptional skill. This bowl’s elegant silhouette—with a gently flared rim, slender body, and radiating petal ribs on the exterior—reflects the refined aesthetic sensibilities of the Northern Song court.
Dating from the 10th to 12th centuries, this piece originates from a private collection in Zhejiang, China, the historic heart of Longquan celadon production. It remains in excellent antique condition, a testament to its enduring quality and careful preservation over nearly a millennium.

There are no chips, cracks, hairlines, or any form of later restoration present on the porcelain body, rim, or carved floral decoration. The original celadon glaze remains fully intact, retaining its characteristic warm, jade-like luster and translucent finish, with no significant glaze loss or damage. The unglazed foot ring shows authentic, period-typical firing marks and natural wear from centuries of handling and storage, with no structural damage or flaws. less
