Antique Elite Works Limoges 11.5" Serving Platter - Gilded Scrolls & Celadon Dot Border
Add a touch of French Belle Époque elegance to your table with this beautiful 11.5-inch oval serving platter. Crafted by the prestigious Elite Works (Bawo & Dotter) in Limoges, France, between 1900 and 1914, this piece represents the peak of Gilded Age porcelain artistry. The luminous white hard-paste porcelain features a classic scalloped rim, a delicate pale green dotted border, and intricate, hand-applied gold floral scrollwork. Its practical mid-size makes it an ideal choice for serving side dishes, appetizers, or as a sophisticated accent piece in a curated "Grandmillennial" collection.
Dimensions:
Length: 11.5 inches
Width: 8.5 inches
Height: 1.25 inches
Condition:
Good Antique Condition. This authentic century-old platter exhibits a lovely "patina of use" consistent with its long history. The central well shows moderate utensil scuffing and several small, dark "kiln dust" spots from the original firing. There is visible, honest rubbing and thinning to the gold gilding on the scrollwork and along the scalloped edge. Structurally sound with no chips, cracks, or professional repairs noted.
Collector’s Note: The Elite Works Dual-Mark System
This platter features the prestigious Elite Works dual-backstamp, a hallmark of superior Limoges porcelain. The green underglaze factory mark ('ELITE / L / FRANCE') dates the porcelain body to 1896–1920, while the red overglaze 'St. Martial' shield confirms the decoration was completed in-house between 1900 and 1914. Collectors highly prize these dual-marked examples as they verify the piece was both manufactured and decorated entirely within the Elite factory during their most celebrated "Golden Age".
A timeless and functional survivor from a bygone era of elegance, this Elite Works platter is a versatile heirloom that brings the refined charm of turn-of-the-century France to the modern home.
