An antique, 18th-century, Qianlong (1735-1796) Chinese export porcelain plate with a celadon glaze and cobalt blue underglaze designs, with a … Read more An antique, 18th-century, Qianlong (1735-1796) Chinese export porcelain plate with a celadon glaze and cobalt blue underglaze designs, with a lightly scalloped border of flowers and fish scales and a central design of peony flowers. The plate looks to be at the beginning of the Qianlong period, possibly even from the earlier Kangxi period, since it still is painted with traditional Chinese designs and with the celadon color, but the scalloped edges and arrangement of the designs suggest the European, specifically Dutch influence, which were to become much more pronounced later in the century with the Chinese export porcelain.
