The softly curved lines, slightly splayed legs, and restrained carved details lend the proportions a serene and stylish effect. Historical Context: Rococo forms experienced a revival in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as part of the Historicism movement and were particularly popular in bourgeois homes as a symbol of refined interior design. Chairs with woven seats were a common choice for dining rooms and parlors, as they appeared lighter than fully upholstered models while simultaneously demonstrating sophisticated craftsmanship. Features – Openwork backrest with curved frame and fine carved detail at the apex – Seat with traditional Viennese cane webbing set in a wooden frame. Design: The design is based on Rococo principles with curved lines, an asymmetrical silhouette, and emphasized transitions between the frame and legs. The slightly curved front legs with subtle relief decoration and the profiled frame create a formal connection between construction and ornamentation. Function: Formerly: Used as a dining or parlor chair in formal living areas. Today: Can be used as a dining room chair, as a standalone piece in the bedroom, or as complementary seating in historically or classically furnished rooms. Dimensions: Height 87 cm × Width 41 cm × Depth 39 cm - Seat height 45 cm. Material and Condition: Walnut wood, seat with Viennese cane webbing, very well preserved, stable construction, webbing intact and functional; professionally inspected by a castle custodian. See less
