Stories of Italy is pleased to present a new project inspired from the chromatic research and the deconstruction of the technique behind the Murano glass macchia. Traditionally, the macchia is applied in a single phase and it is subsequently coated with a crystal layer. Here, instead, it has been deconstructed and reassembled. By completely removing the crystal, the artworks lose the sparkling effect – a characteristic of the macchia - in favour of an opaque one. The chromatic motifs are created through repeated multiple applications of colourful pigments and flakes: layers on layers, macchie on macchie.
The opacity as well as the layers bring to life a soft and dense texture – a drastic departure from the formal canons of the Murano glass tradition – whose optical effect is reminiscent of the vast array of colourful glazes, marbles and pietre dure in vogue throughout ancient Italy, which were at the heart of this project’s research.
This project marks another step towards Stories of Italy’s ongoing reinterpretation of Murano glass art, and it strengthens the company’s vision as an innovative entity within contemporary Italian art glass.
Stories of Italy is a brand and a studio based in Milan that creates fine pieces connected with traditional Italian craft. Inspiration comes from the great archaeological, historical and cultural heritage of our country. Objects and symbols from a common past read in a contemporary way.
This Stories of Italy set includes: 6 x Macchia su Macchia Tumblers in Flamingo Mix (one glass in six different colors).
COMPOSITION:

MANUFACTURING PROCESS:
Mouth-blowing and hand-finishing
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
- Clean/wash the Murano glass object with slightly warm water. You can wash it with a neutral soap if necessary.
- Do not use ammonia or any harsh chemicals.
- High temperatures, high pressure water and aggressive detergents can damage the surface of glass producing an irreversible patchy, cloudy or milky effect.
- Do not wash two pieces together as they may get scratched or damaged in the process.
- Make sure that the object is completely dry after cleaning: water could leave spots on the object.
**As a result of the handmade nature of these glasses, slight variations in the pattern are expected.**

Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).

Cancellations

- Please notify us within 24 hours of purchase if you would like to cancel an order, as prompt cancellation will reduce the likelihood that you will incur return shipping charges.
