Après-ski, anyone? This fabulous set of four vintage Italian highball glasses brings the slopes directly to the cocktail bar, with tiny downhill skiers racing across sweeping blue-and-white alpine landscapes.
Each glass features a different skier in colorful winter gear descending a wonderfully graphic pale-blue mountain slope. The alpine landscape wraps continuously around each glass, with the ski tracks carrying around the curves of the design Skiers and their tracks remain visible from inside the glass—a particularly clever detail!
The spare, stylized mountain graphics paired with the wonderfully tiny skiers give the glasses a playful modernist quality. Heavy clear glass bases add a substantial feel. Each glass is marked “ITALY 8” on the base. The maker is unknown. Similar surviving Italian skier glasses date to the late 20th century, and this set is being conservatively dated accordingly.
