Rare antique William & Mary tall back banister carved and ebonized ash and beech wood open chair, with a pierced cresting over three carved scrolling back splats flanked by block and turned stiles with urn-shaped finials, the seat was re-upholstered in 1972 (see picture of tag on bottom of seat), serpentine S-curved legs ending in scrolled feet, joined by ring-turned stretchers. English or Dutch c.1690 ??
I have taken this description from an almost exact looking chair I found online. Fabric is slightly pulling away at the front middle - needs to be re-tacked. The seat should be re-upholstered with a proper antique silk fabric. Slightly "lumpy" to sit on.

There is a scraped area on the back of the top of the chair (see picture). Slight blemish on front left side near top (see picture). It doesn't appear that the finish was ever touched - it is probably the original finish. The seat was re-upholstered in Connecticut in 1972 as per the tag shown on the bottom.
