The timekeeping mechanism consists of a glass and a rotating metal band with perforated Roman numerals, while the time is indicated by a single fixed hand.
The case is made of gilded metal on a circular base with a turned stem, giving the whole the elegant shape of a chalice. The winding movement features a lever escapement, with a small fixed pendulum protruding from the lower part of the central body.
