Two female figures of Hellenistic style sit on either side of the case, holding a cup with raised arms to collect the ink dust.
On the sides of the base, framed by vegetal scrolls and chased floral motifs, are two faceted glass ink containers with gilded bronze lids. The front edge of the base, shaped like a shell, serves as a shelf for a nib or fountain pen.
The white enamel dial with Roman numerals is enclosed in a rectangular case with a glass front, adorned with a gilded bezel. The movement features a chime.
