This chair was crafted by the Gerdau Furniture company in Brazil in the early decades of the 20th century. Their studio produced both Art Deco and Mid Century pieces and often were inspired by the designs of Michael Thonet. This chair is an excellent example of that inspiration. Gerdau often used Caviuna wood to construct their bentwood pieces, and that is believed to be what was used here. It has its original dark brown finish and cane seat.
This is truly an artful statement piece and would be a wonderful side or "parlor" chair!

It is structurally sound … moreThis beautiful chair is in excellent condition with no damage throughout and minimal wear/scuffing (see photos). It is structurally sound and the caning is in perfect condition. The finish is also in superb condition. The previous owner reported taking it apart for a long distance move and when reassembling, they used modern screws in some place, but some of the original remain. A+ piece! less
