The abacus is antique and made entirely of wood. It is functional, although there is a small chip on the side of the wooden frame. It was used as a calculating machine, a counting board.

50cm long, 27.5cm wide, and 5cm thick.

“This is a Russian abacus (Schioty), and the row with only 4 beads is used to count quarters of rubles. The abacus is used flat, with the thinnest part facing you. Often, there are only 2 rows below the row of 4 beads, which is sufficient for counting kopecks and tens of kopecks.” See less
