An elegant French ladies’ writing desk, dating to the early 20th century, crafted in the Louis XV taste. The serpentine front and graceful cabriole legs give the piece its light, feminine silhouette, while the slant-front top opens to reveal a fitted interior with small drawers and compartments for correspondence.
The writing surface is inset with leather, framed by shaped molding, and retains warm honey-toned wood throughout. The interior configuration, scalloped apron, and delicate proportions reflect the refined Rococo revival aesthetic popular in France during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
When closed, the desk presents as a compact and sculptural accent piece; when open, it becomes a fully functional writing surface with discreet storage. A pull-out side slide adds additional utility.
