A rare and character-rich set of three antique Nepalese grain measures, dating to circa 1900, presented as a graduated nesting set.
Traditionally used in Nepal for measuring rice, lentils, and dry grains, these vessels feature decorative black lacquer and gilt motifs, including protective animal imagery such as the lion (singha).
Constructed with seamed coppered metal reinforcement and cut metal brackets, the pieces combine durability with handcrafted artistry. The largest measure approximates the volume of a mana (½ pathi), a traditional unit of measure.
Today, these function beautifully as decorative bowls, storage vessels, or sculptural objects, ideal for global, rustic, or collected interiors.
