Full Description
This late 19th-century Victorian Rococo Revival lounge chair features a beautifully hand-carved walnut frame with pierced crestwork, scrolling arms, and deeply carved cabriole legs. The scale is generous and architectural, standing 41 inches tall with a wide 29-inch front presence and a comfortable 27-inch depth.
The oval tufted back is framed by intricate open carving that highlights the craftsmanship of the piece. The arms terminate in bold scroll forms, and the apron and legs carry consistent carved detail throughout, creating a visually balanced and structurally strong silhouette.
The existing upholstery is original and present but worn. The seat cushion shows visible foam exposure at the front edge, and fabric exhibits age-appropriate wear throughout. The frame itself is solid and structurally sound, making this an excellent candidate for a full custom reupholstery.
