Offering an EXTRA-LARGE pair of Trompe l'Oeil leopard and cheetah paintings done in the style of William Skilling, circa 1990s. These gorgeous hand painted wild cats are both seated inside a Trompe l'Oeil vignette with a Neoclassical gazebo and trees in the background.
These lovely large paintings came directly out of a Naples, Florida estate and were done in the 1990s to look like William Skilling's work at the turn of the 20th century. These are not reproduction prints but high quality hand painted oil paintings with an intentional heavy crackle on the surface to appear antique. The wooden frames are also hand painted with floral details and garlands. We were told by the previous owner that she purchased them from Maitland-Smith, but they are not signed and we cannot guarantee that, although they are very reminiscent of Maitland-Smith quality products of the era. Beautiful paintings for a large wall that will fit almost any decor.
VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION. A few minor flea bites on the edge. The new owner will be very happy about the condition of the item.

Bio of William Skilling:
William E. Skilling (1862–1964) was an American/British painter known for large, decorative canvases of exotic animals—cheetahs, leopards, monkeys, giraffes, elephants, horses, etc.
He often painted in a Victorian–colonial, naïve, trompe‑l’oeil style, sometimes intentionally aging the surface to create a patina.
His works appear frequently at auction and include subjects like: Leopards, Cheetahs, Horses, Monkeys, and Tropical birds.
