Known to … Read more This exquisite Copeland ceramic creamer is a testament to the charm and craftsmanship of early 20th-century English porcelain. Known to collectors as the "climbing cat" or "cat in the milk pail" design, this rare piece transforms a functional dairy jug into a delightful work of art.

Measuring a full 6 1/2" tall and 3 3/4" in diameter, it is crafted in the famous Spode tradition, featuring a classic ribbed pail body with elegant gilded highlights and a striking golden harness motif.

This whimsical creamer was created by W.T.Copeland & Sons, Stoke-on-Trent, England between 1910-1920. It was part of a series of "Dairy Requisites" and teaware featuring life-like animals, particularly cats, climbing over the rims of pails and pitchers.

The handle on this wonderful creamer is formed by a beautifully modeled Calico or Tortoiseshell cat, peering over the top edge of the creamer.The body of the creamer features a ribbed "barrel" or "pail" design with gilded accents. The front depicts a gold-gilt harness or bit motif, suggesting a connection to equestrian or rural life.

It carries an impressed mold #3402 and hand-painted artist mark #123.

The entire piece is in excellent, ready-to-ues or display condition.
