As you … Read more Very interesting lamp shade that is made of pieces of what I believe to be authentic horn material. As you can see the panel pieces vary in color from brown to mottled brown/beige to light brown/cream/beige. Individual pieces of horn are pieced together wire on a metal lamp shade frame. The individual pieces average about 1+" by 2" square, with a border made of the same material around the top and bottom. The border is dark horn and is about 1/2" height. The metal frame of the shade looks specifically made for this, with "staves" every row, so the pieces of horn are attached on either side to a stave, then to another square at top and bottom. The shade frame is black with the hole at the top to go onto a harp and finial. The top of the shade is 4" and the bottom is 9". The height is 8". It is very sturdy and somewhat heavy for a shade! This would look great in a library, cabin, southwest decor, or anywhere. This is very cool and very unique. I have no idea of the age of this but based on how well made it is, at least mid century.
