A sculptural stool attributed to Jacques Adnet, combining industrial clarity with refined handcraft. The design centres on a chromed metal frame of clean, architectural lines, its bent steel structure providing both strength and visual lightness.
Time has softened the chrome to a gently aged patina, lending depth and character without compromising the crispness of the form.
The seat is woven in thick halyard rope, tensioned by hand across the frame to create a supple yet supportive surface. The rope introduces a tactile counterpoint to the metal—warm, organic and visibly worked—highlighting Adnet’s interest in material contrast and functional elegance. Each strand follows a deliberate rhythm, revealing the craft involved in its construction rather than concealing it.
Practical and sculptural in equal measure, this stool sits comfortably within modernist, nautical or industrial interiors, and stands as a strong example of Adnet’s ability to balance utility with thoughtful, material-driven design. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
