Offered is a selection of vintage, circa 1960s, S-Series 5-piece place settings of dinnerware that include 6 dinner plates, 6 salad / dessert plates, 6 rimmed soup / cereal bowls, and 6 cups with saucers from Arabia of Finland, designed by Ulla Procope in the pattern called "Rosmarin" in brown (similar to the "Anemone" done in dark blue), that was produced between 1961 through 1972. Along with the 30 dinnerware pieces are 2 serving platters - 1 oval and 1 round - as well as the matching coffee pot, milk jug or pitcher, creamer, and a sugar bowl with its lid.
Each of the stoneware ceramic pieces were hand painted by artisans, and the wet glaze was burnished, which is why no wares are exactly alike.
Ulla Procopé (1921 - 1968) was one of Finland's leading ceramic designers of the 20th century who left an indelible impact on Scandinavian design. She joined Arabia, the Finnish producer of fine ceramic tableware in 1948 and designed several innovative and popular lines of ceramic products.
