It is crafted of rosewood and features glass containers with sterling silver tops and utensils with mother of pearl handles. The fitted compartments are lined in velvet. The inner top folds down to reveal a folio area for papers and a mirror. The hinge is missing and it is currently held in place by Velcro. The sterling pieces are all hallmarked some a little more worn than others. I read a Birmingham date mark of 1876 and the j.g stamp which denotes John Gough. Not sure if he made the case or just the fittings. In any event the rosewood of the case has beautiful graining. It appears pretty complete although there may be some utensils missing. There are a few splits to the wood from age and the front lower left corner(facing it) has a small bit of veneer loss and brass inlay missing. The box front has some warping and we do not have a key so it doesn’t quite close tight. See less
