The cabinet consists of two Doric colonettes supporting a pulvinated frieze and flanking a cylindrical storage area rotating to reveal five fixed open shelves, and rests upon four canted cast iron cabriole legs having acanthus detail and terminating in paw feet. The original black paint retains a rich patina while the gilt chinoiserie detail with umber highlights continues to shine.

A great example - originally used as a decorative means of warming plates prior to dining. The open shelves facing a fireplace would hold the plates while the decorated face was presented to the room.

Though we may no longer need to warm our dinnerware by the fireside, this piece is ideally suited for a small bar with hidden yet easily-accessible storage for bar ware, and with surface above for taller bottles and decanters, as a useful side of bedside table, or as a unique side table with a little inspected storage. Whichever you decide, it is sure to be a great conversation piece. See less
