There is one thing you can say about 1970s decor and design.....that it was colorful and fun. This offering is a testament to creativity and functionality. Made in Italy, which has always produced exciting colorful ceramic works for centuries, commissioned by Walter Hatches Inc. Majolica has always been a fun way to be whimsical and playful, yet purposeful. This set consists of a huge lemon figural bowl, with sculpted lemons on side as accent. What's really fun about this bowl is that the outside was made to mimic actual lemon peel! It measures 15" L x 10" W x4.5" deep. In very good vintage condition. It does look like previous owner tried to do some restoration on the leaves on side of bowl. See photos. Along with the bowl, there are eleven (11) luncheon plates. Done in a crescent style, they mimic an individual slice of the citrus. Each plate is styled with a realistic form of a lemon. These plates measure 9.5" L x 4.5" D. All the plates are in very good vintage condition, with some having small "flea bites", which do not affect the spirit of the design. This set screams Summer picnic, barbeques and ladies luncheons. A great addition to any party. See less
