Exquisitely decorated in Imari style with the typical palette: iron red, underglaze cobalt blue, and 22 karat gold
The design includes stylized floral motifs and delicate gold highlights
The Imari pattern, also known as Golden Imari, was inspired by traditional Japanese porcelain patterns sourced from the port of Imari on the island of Kyushu, Japan.
The marking on the underside features a gilt chrysanthemum, outlined in red, the mon of Japanese emperors and their families since 1336. The 15 petals design was formalized as Imperial crest during the Edo period (1603-1868). The eightfold 16-petaled variant was later adopted by Meiji on 30th of September 1869
