This large handmade folk art memory vase is a one of a kind piece. Folk art is as popular as ever and this handmade vase is a wonderful way to add a piece to your home. A memory vase, these originated in Africa and were brought to the US as African cultures arrived to the US. These pieces often served as grave markers. Later, these appealed to Victorian Americans who began creating items with found, eclectic, and sentimental objects.
This pieces is a mix of jewelry, seashells, and more are all mixed to create a unique piece. Sprinkled in glitter, its a piece to treasure. This was found at an estate in Washington, DC who either created or collected a variety of hand made artwork, including memory pieces over her lifetime. This piece works well for those interior spaces who appreciate and include folk art decor.

This is a very old piece and could actually be an antique, but I am not an expert on folk art and cannot guarantee this. It could also be from the 1950s and 1960s, according to my research with the Litchfield Historical Society. less
