This chair is an antique American Empire-style caned spindle-back side chair, also sometimes referred to as Victorian style.
The chair features a hand turned spindle back, turned legs, and a cane seat, which are characteristic elements of the American Empire style that gained popularity in the United States after 1820.
The American Empire style is a French-inspired Neoclassical design movement.
Made from fine wood, this armless chair feature a subtly curved silhouette, medallions and a balloon seat giving them an elegant and refined appearance.
