A rare and unusual specimen, dating to the mid-20th century, featuring an unusual up-curved single arm form with weighing pan on the opposite side. Known as an unequal arm balance scale, this sophisticated variety builds the counterweight into the device.

Having a single long triangle shaped brass arm inset with white celluloid black numbered register, self indicating lever with very fine tip, brass cylindrical tube body fitted with brass hardware, rising on a sturdy triangular shaped painted black cast iron base, resting on two fixed feet and single adjustable height brass screw foot. Includes original patinated brass weighing pan and hanger. Signed, retaining original metal plaque label, Patent No 697961, stamped in relief "Made in Britain". circa 1950s
