An impressive pair of small carved panels from the late Gothic period
Masterly done by hand in high relief with very good detail
Hard wood, most likely oak with dark finish, which was the predominant material for antique wood carvings.
Smooth, centuries old patina.
Both depict bearded men portraits / busts in coats with large buttons, embedded in architectural elements, resembling Ionic columns with volutes
Circa 16th / 17th century, possibly English
Measurements: Approximately 4" x 2.75" x 0.75"
