This sophisticated Aristocratic painting features a young boy, with receding hairline, in military pageantry style pinkish red uniform along with a sword. With his right hand he is extending a small branch to a Doe deer who is facing away from the viewer, the painter has chosen to emphasize the buttocks of the deer for some reason. The left hand is holding a hunting switch. The painting is unsigned, but the uniform features a stylized M monogram. The painting is most likely Austrian or German and dates from the mid to late 18th century.

Condition: Good condition. A few small surface scratches. No signs of inpainting or repair under black light. Has been re-lined. Modern framing.
