Rare, vintage pair of majolica Bordallo Pinheiro Parrots from Portugal, C 1960-1970.
This matched pair is handmade and modeled in the high-relief style that makes Portuguese majolica design favorites.
Each parrot perches on a detailed branch adorned with small leaves, berries and tropical flowers. All are hand painted using white, opaque, tin-based glaze paired with vivid tones of green, blue, yellow, black and red. These birds are lovely statement pieces for a console, bookshelf, or mantel shown as a mirrored pair.
