These "purses" were used to carry oil or grease both by farmers from India and by pioneers heading west in covered wagons. There is a slight scent of grease inside this wooden container. I love the spokes and wheel design. It also appears that there are initials carved on one side. The handmade construction out of a single block of wood is impressive. There is an intact lid that pivots on a wrought iron pin. See less
