Artist: Roland Butler
About the Artist : Roland Butler was an American circus press agent and illustrator for multiple circuses but was best known for working with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus for more than three decades. Butler was inducted into the Circus Hall of Fame in 1963. (wikipedia)
About the Poster :
The Cole. Bros Circus was founded in 1884 by William Washington Cole. In 1957 the show was renamed Clyde Beatty Cole Bros. Circus after the prominent animal trainer Clyde Beatty, who performed with the Circus.
By 2014, Cole Bros. Circus was one of the few traditional circuses in the United States that remained under the big top tent. In 2016, the show was essentially defunct, largely in response to animal rights activists advocating against the use of animals for live performances. (wikipedia)
