Elegant and sculptural Donghia “Grand Flute” armchair, attributed to designer John Hutton, showcasing a refined neoclassical silhouette with strong architectural presence. This iconic design features a dramatic oval medallion back framed by deeply fluted detailing, gracefully curved arms, and tapered fluted legs with block feet.
The chair is upholstered in a warm golden ochre fabric with a subtle grid pattern that beautifully complements the cream-painted wood frame, highlighting the fluted apron, arms, and back surround. A timeless and sophisticated piece that works equally well in Hollywood Regency, Neoclassical, Transitional, or Postmodern interiors.
The chair is unmarked, which is common for Donghia seating of this period, but the design, scale, and craftsmanship are consistent with known examples of the Grand Flute model by John Hutton.
