Elevate your dining display or fine art collection with this exceptional, museum-quality antique Victorian porcelain fish platter. Dating to circa 1891, this grand statement piece measures a stately 24.5 inches in length and features a breathtaking, highly detailed hand-painted depiction of a Muskellunge (Muskie) swimming in its natural aquatic environment. The platter is framed by a beautifully sculpted, gently scalloped rim accented with elegant rose-blushed borders and fine, delicate hand-gilded gold detailing along the edges.
Historical Provenance:
Crafted by Victoria Porcelain (Porzellanfabrik Victoria), a significant German porcelain manufacturer active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries renowned for producing high-quality decorative porcelain and specialized fish services. Fish services became wildly popular in the Victorian era as elaborate dining customs evolved. These elite services were designed to serve various types of fish and were adorned with intricate aquatic motifs. The authentic "Victoria Porcelain" mark on the reverse, combined with the circa 1891 date, places this platter within a peak period of refined European tableware production, making it a highly desirable acquisition for advanced antiquarians.
