This really is an Exceptionally Nice Antique American Country Primitive Stoneware Jug. Circa Mid 19th Century. It is Rendered in the Very Desirable Small 1 Gallon Size. The Classic American Salt Glaze Sandy - Greige Color Exterior has a Wonderful Textured and Uniform Color. The Front is Hand Decorated with a Stunning Large Size Cobalt Blue Stylized Flower Design. It has No Maker Mark but in My Opinion it is was Most Likely Made in the Upstate Region of New York These Smaller Size Jugs were Commonly Used to Store a Variety of Liquids - Spirits - Liquor - Ciders - Vinegar - Spring Water Etc. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made - Intended For Everyday Utilitarian Use. It is in Excellent All Original Condition and it Displays Beautifully. It has a Couple Very Faint Hairlines at the Top Spout Area and some other Minor Surface Base Perimeter Area Kiln Surface Only Glaze Imperfections That would have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process. These Types of Surface Imperfections are Quite Common as These Stoneware Items were Fired in Multiple Batches in Large Size Kilns.
