19th-century rococo desk crafted in walnut with veneer and darker trim detailing along the desk top edge. The desk is freestanding, with finished presentation on the reverse; there are no drawers on the back side. The top is framed by a scalloped surround, and the skirt is scalloped as well, with curved wood detailing continuing around the full perimeter of the desk.
The desk stands on heavily carved cabriole legs terminating in lion paw feet. It offers six drawers and includes five functioning keys. Minor scuffs, cracks, and nicks are visible throughout, consistent with age, with additional minor cracks and scuffs noted along the curved drawer fronts.
Floor-to-skirt height measures approximately 24 1/8 inches at the left and right sides, with a center height of approximately 22 3/4 inches. Restored, strong, and stable, this is a striking and elegant working desk ready for use.
