The deep jet-black glass ground provides dramatic contrast to the luminous gold decoration, which features fruit baskets, grape clusters, and scrolling acanthus foliage in a refined Neoclassical / Empire Revival style.

Produced in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) at the turn of the 20th century, pieces of this quality were intended for formal dining tables, sideboards, or cabinet display. The raised gold enamel work shows hand-crafted variation, indicating artisan decoration rather than transfer or factory print.
